Our 2022 Avalon is a blend of those provence classics,
grenache, 60% and mourvèdre, 40%. It’s been fermented in
ceramic eggs and left for four months on the lees to add
some serious character.
‘Corbett is a serious talent, one of those perpetually
rest-less types who don’t make their wines, they inhabit them.’
— Nick Ryan, Wine Writer.
Characterful wines start with characterful winemakers and Michael
Corbett is indeed a character. Ex chef, rugby player and ducati
rider, Michael crams as much into his wine as he has into his life.
With over 25 vintages to his name, in france, the USA, NZ and Australia
he’s amassed a wealth of experience, importantly producing Rosé wine
in provence.
Michael is best known for his range of vanguardist wines
which can be found on the best wine lists, both here and in France
– no small achievement.
Australia’s climate is changing so we need to change the wine we make.
Traditional noble varieties prefer cooler climes, but the likes of grenache
and mourvèdre thrive in warm, dry conditions.
We acknowledge the traditional Aboriginal owners of country throughout
Australia, their ongoing connection to this land and we pay our respects
to their culture and their Elders past, present and future.
